#26
it's been a while...
Welcome to the table.
A painting worth viewing:
“Blue II” by Joan Miro (1961)
A poem worth pondering:
Pied Beauty by Gerard Manley Hopkins
Glory be to God for dappled things –
For skies of couple-colour as a brinded cow;
For rose-moles all in stipple upon trout that swim;
Fresh-firecoal chestnut-falls; finches’ wings;
Landscape plotted and pieced – fold, fallow, and plough;
And áll trádes, their gear and tackle and trim.
All things counter, original, spare, strange;
Whatever is fickle, freckled (who knows how?)
With swift, slow; sweet, sour; adazzle, dim;
He fathers-forth whose beauty is past change:
Praise him.For more great poetry 😉:
Music worth listening to (on shuffle):
A quote worth noting:
“Poetry is sane because it floats easily in an infinite sea; reason seeks to cross the infinite sea, and so make it finite.”
GK Chesterton
Odds & ends:
Books: I recently finished The Dutch House by Ann Patchett. I give it a 5/5 stars. Her writing is just absolutely superb.
Currently reading
Margaret Thatcher’s bio - 40% finished
Chesterton’s Orthodoxy - 20% finished
Love Thy Body - 57% finished
Wanna-be-chef: I made some Greek lemon potatoes that turned out SO crispy & perfectly tangy. My husband literally just stood in the kitchen & ate them out of the tupperware container.
That’s all for now!
All my best,
Alexandra

Gerald Manley Hopkins - always a sweetness there.
